Harmony in Paradise is a performance chorus of approximately 50 women specialising in singing four-part a cappella music. The chorus sings in the barbershop style, which means we add movement, colour and drama to our performances of popular music from a variety of eras.

Director

Rose McGee

Our Musical Director, Rose McGee, has been a leader in Australian women's singing for over 15 years. Her passion for choral music began in 1990 when she started singing with the Central Coast Harmony Chorus in Gosford. In 1992 she became Musical Director of the Central Coast Men's Barbershop Chorus and took them to third place bronze medals at the national competition. From then on her skills were in demand.

Rose directed the Wollongong Harmony Chorus for six years, and during her tenure they grew from 34 to 92 members and won national bronze and silver medals. She founded the Out Of The Blue Singers in Wollongong, performing a wide variety of vocal music from barbershop to classical to gospel to musical theatre. In 2003 she took on the musical directorship of The Blenders, Australia's champion men's barbershop chorus, and led them to two national Gold Medals and a Pan-Pacific Gold. The Blenders represented Australia at the International Competition in Denver in July 2007.

Teaching is another of Rose's passions. She is an International Faculty member of Sweet Adelines International, a member of the Australian Regional Education Faculty, and a Certified Chorus Director Workshop Intensive trainer and a Certified Director of the Future Trainer. Rose has planned and presented many classes and workshops on vocal technique, events planning, team building, and preparing for competition.

I am following a long line of very talented directors who have built a wonderful foundation of vocal and performance skills. We have exciting plans for expanding the repertoire, plus new and different projects to stretch us vocally and theatrically."

Rose is originally from Ohio in the United States. She has lived in Australia since 1983 and lives on the Gold Coast.
